Empowering Omaha’s Future: Plumbers Local 16 Partners with Omaha Public Schools’ Trades Camp Series

Oct 25, 2024
In a fast-evolving world, the need for skilled professionals in the trades is more vital than ever. Recognizing this, Plumbers Local 16 is thrilled to partner with Omaha Public Schools (OPS) in their Trades Camp Series, a groundbreaking initiative designed to introduce students to rewarding career opportunities in the trades industry.

This partnership is more than just about filling job vacancies; it’s about shaping futures and strengthening our community. Through hands-on workshops, OPS students can explore a wide variety of trades, with Local 16’s skilled plumbers guiding them every step of the way. Our experts bring real-world experience and passion to the program, mentoring students in the tools, techniques, and skills needed for success in the industry.

Each year, Local 16’s commitment to training future tradespeople has grown, with our union supporting OPS students through practical sessions, industry insights, and advice on navigating the path toward apprenticeships and beyond. By offering our members as mentors, students gain firsthand knowledge and build invaluable connections within the trades community.

Our very own Arrick Jazynka had the chance to talk with both KETV7 and WOWT 6 News about the work Local 16 has been doing:
Our goal is to inspire the next generation and provide pathways to secure, fulfilling careers. By teaming up with OPS, Plumbers Local 16 hopes to help students uncover the potential within the trades, breaking down barriers and opening doors to new and lasting opportunities. Together, we’re not just building a skilled workforce; we’re building a stronger, more vibrant Omaha.
